Welcome to LET’S SPEAK DOG
Training for happier dogs and happier owners

About Me
Fully qualified and fully insured
I have always had a great passion for all animals but especially dogs and when my parents gave me a little Poodle for my fifth birthday I was in love; by the time I was seven I was taking Pixie to the bottom of our very large garden and making her sit and then telling her to stay as I backed my way up to the house, ran into the back door up the stairs and into my rear bedroom, opened the window and yelled 'Pixie come' and she would race up to the house and run to my room! I was so proud of her and my passion with dog training was born!
I have volunteered and helped to train dogs in dog shelters both in the United States where I lived for three years and also whilst living in Australia for nearly 19 years.
I have rescued countless amazing dogs
and at one time had four beautiful
rescues. My only dog that I had from a puppy was my beloved Boxer Jasmin and people used to tell me that she was the best trained dog in Melbourne!
I have had the pleasure of being chosen as a doggy parent by a German Shepherd, a Labrador, an Afghan Hound, a Spaniel/Terrier mix, a Tibetan Terrier, an American Cocker Spaniel, a Boxer, a Yorkshire Terrier and now most recently our beautiful Lurcher.
I am devoted to helping to train dogs to make their lives better and you the owners too.
If I can help one more dog to be happy and well adjusted and one more owner to be happier too, then I am very happy also!
At the start of 2019 I decided to formally train and make what I loved my career, studying in depth:
Dog Training
Canine Communication
Canine Behaviour
Understanding Canine Anxiety
All qualifications I passed with distinction.

What to expect....
Initial session
When you contact me I will visit you and your dog at your home as this is important to assess the dogs surroundings and how they react to me in their home; whether they are crate trained, sit on a chair by the window and bark all day at passers by or are guarding their toys, food or bedding all these things and more give me an initial picture of any behaviours and then we will discuss your concerns and the reason that you feel that your dog requires training.
At this initial assessment I will take notes and we will discuss what I think is the best way forward and if I think I can help you and your dog.
Training plan
Each dog has their own unique traits and mannerisms, and therefore require their own unique and specialised training. That’s where I come in!
Whether it’s for basic manners or behavioural issues, I am focused on not only training your dog, but teaching you how to effectively communicate with them. This method of training is full of fun techniques that will give you and your pet a happier life together.
Depending on the training needed and what your needs are also, I will visit after the initial assessment and begin the training and showing you, the dog parent, how to implement these new methods.
Happy Clients
'Thank goodness that we had Helen's help, as Nellie our year old Cavalier was picking up anything and everything in the street and at home and guarding it to the point that she would bite if you tried to remove it! Along came Helen and within a few sessions Nellie would happily drop the item and by diversion and some other fun tactics Nellie no longer lunges for horrid items and our walks are much easier. Would recommend Helen to anyone and would use her again.'

'Our Cockapoo Pedro jumped up everyone who came to the house and also the owners of any random dog in the park and he has been known to deposit some vivid muddy footprints on the person's clothing, leaving them not thrilled and me mortified! Helen sorted this out and showed us how to continue the training should Pedro have a relapse in manners; now Pedro never climbs up and he is such a gent! Thanks Helen so much.'

'Hermes is a Greek rescue and so beautiful but he tended to bark at other dogs that we met on lead and some people in the street. We found Helen and Let's Speak Dog online and it proved to be a great move.
Hermes can now walk by another dog on the lead without barking like a lunatic and he is no longer scared of people walking by and so does not bark at them either.
Will be using Helen again to help with other issues regarding Hermes as he is a beautiful work in progress and Helen makes the training fun and positive and I think Hermes loves her more than us!!! Highly recommended.'
